Soon "formerly known as Music Women* Germany"

Some of you may have already heard, others maybe not: since 2023, the association has been in the process of changing its name. The reason for this is feedback from members across the country and from outside voices who decided not to join because the current name was not inclusive enough and didn’t fully represent the association’s values.

Music Women* was founded to promote intersectional gender equality: on stage, behind the stage, and in front of it. However, the current name does not reflect this mission. That’s why the former board, together with representatives from the regional networks, started a renaming process through workshops and internal discussions. A first name proposal was presented at the members’ meeting in April 2024, but it did not receive enough support.

After that, the board developed a new strategy to involve more members, partners, and regional representatives in the process. The result is the “Strategy Working Group,” made up of people from the regional networks and the board. Its task is to guide the process and find a solution everyone can agree on.
